Who we are
What is LawMitran?
LawMitran is a privately operated technology platform for people in India who need legal help but aren’t sure where to start. It brings the first steps — finding an advocate, understanding what a matter involves, and getting routine paperwork in order — into one place.
On LawMitran you can:
- Find lawyers by city, practice area, court and language
- Submit a legal requirement to an advocate
- Read practical, plain-English legal guides
- Prepare common legal documents from guided templates
- Hear directly from an advocate who takes up your requirement
Why we exist
Why we built LawMitran
Most people deal with the legal system only a handful of times in their lives — usually when something has already gone wrong. At that point the hardest part is often not the matter itself, but working out where to begin.
LawMitran is designed to make that first stage simpler: understanding the situation, finding an advocate, and getting routine paperwork right. It doesn’t replace an advocate’s advice, and it can’t resolve a legal matter for you.
Legal language is hard to follow
Notices, agreements and court terms are written for lawyers, not for the people they affect.
Finding the right professional takes time
It is hard to know who handles your kind of matter, and in which court.
It isn’t clear which documents you need
People often discover a missing document only after a delay or a rejection.
Different matters need different expertise
A property dispute, a cheque-bounce case and a divorce each call for a different kind of advocate.
Reliable information is hard to find
Much of what is online is outdated, generic, or written to sell rather than to explain.

How LawMitran works
From your first question to working with an advocate.
STEP 01
Tell us what you need
Describe your legal matter in plain words. No legal terminology needed.
STEP 02
Browse or submit
Look through advocate profiles, or submit your requirement directly.
STEP 03
Your requirement reaches an advocate
It goes to the advocate you chose, or to an available, approved advocate in or near your area.
STEP 04
The advocate contacts you
The advocate reaches out to you directly. There is no booking step on LawMitran.
STEP 05
You decide together
Scope, fees and engagement are agreed between you and the advocate.
LawMitran doesn’t guarantee that an advocate will take up a requirement, and doesn’t take part in your engagement with them.
Our role
What LawMitran does — and doesn’t do
LawMitran provides the technology platform: the lawyer directory, requirement submission, legal guides and the services listed on the site. When you engage an advocate you found here, that engagement is between you and the advocate — including the advice you receive, the scope of the work and the fees.
Where LawMitran itself sells a service, its price and terms are shown before you pay.
