Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Account data (name, email, mobile number, password hash); profile data for advocates (Bar Council enrolment number and state, practice details, office locations, uploaded certificate and photo); requirement details you submit to reach a lawyer; documents you generate or purchase; payment references from our payment gateway (we do not store card numbers); and technical data such as device, log, and usage information.

2. Why we use it

To operate the Platform: verifying advocates, routing your requirement to matching lawyers, generating documents, processing payments, sending service notifications (SMS, email, WhatsApp where opted in), preventing fraud and abuse, and improving the service. We process personal data on the basis of your consent and, where applicable, legitimate uses recognised under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

3. What we share

When you submit a requirement, its contents and your name are shared with matched, verified advocates; your contact details are revealed to an advocate only per the Platform’s lead flow. We use service providers for hosting, storage, payments, SMS and email delivery, bound by contractual safeguards. If you choose to share a purchased document with an advocate, they can read its contents (which carry the names and addresses you entered) on screen, only while you share it and only after taking your requirement; each view is recorded, and you can stop sharing at any time. We do not sell personal data. We may disclose data where required by law or to enforce our terms.

4. Storage & security

Data is stored on servers located in India. Verification documents (Bar Council certificates, ID cards) are stored in private storage accessible only through authenticated, role-restricted endpoints. Passwords are hashed; refresh tokens are stored only as hashes; access is role-based. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.

5. Your rights & choices

You can access and correct your data from your dashboard, withdraw marketing consent at any time, and delete your account from Settings (deactivation with retention only as required for legal and audit purposes). For any privacy request or complaint, contact our Grievance Officer via the grievance page or email support@lawmitran.com. We respond within the timelines prescribed under applicable law.

6. Cookies, analytics & advertising

We use strictly necessary storage (such as authentication tokens) to keep you signed in and remember preferences. Where enabled, we also use advertising-measurement tools to understand which campaigns bring people to the Platform.

We do not currently serve third-party advertising on the Platform. If that changes, advertising partners may set or read cookies and similar identifiers on your device to select and measure ads, and this policy will say so before any such advertising goes live. Where Google is used as an advertising partner, its use of advertising cookies is governed by Google’s own policies, and you can review and change your ad personalisation settings at Google My Ad Center. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though strictly necessary cookies are needed to stay signed in.

Country. The country you choose in the header is remembered in a small cookie (lm_country) holding only that country’s two-letter code. Where country detection is switched on, on your first visit we may work out which country you are browsing from using your IP address and a database kept on our own server, to suggest a sensible starting country. Only the country is determined — not your city or location — and your IP address is not stored, logged or shared for this purpose. It never changes your account, prices or currency, and you can always pick another country. This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com.

7. Children

The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and above.

8. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be notified on the Platform. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. See also our terms of use and legal disclaimer.
