1. Who we are
LawMitran (“the Platform”) is an information and discovery platform that helps users find Bar Council–verified advocates and purchase legal document templates in India. LawMitran is not a law firm, does not practise law, and does not provide legal advice. No advocate–client relationship is created by using the Platform.
LawMitran is privately operated, with its registered business location in Hosur, Tamil Nadu and operations based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. It is not a government website, government department, court service or Bar Council body, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government authority. More about us is on the about page.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or using the Platform you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform. When you sign up, we record that you accepted these Terms and our Disclaimer, the version you accepted (version 2026-10-09) and the time. Separate notices, such as for paid plans or AI document checks, ask for your agreement again where they apply.
If you are a client
- You are looking for information or an advocate on your own initiative. LawMitran has not solicited you.
- When you submit a requirement, you ask us to share your contact details with matching verified advocates, who may contact you directly.
- AI answers and document checks are general information, not legal advice.
If you are an advocate, or list a firm
- You are enrolled with a State Bar Council, hold a valid Certificate of Practice, and will keep your profile accurate and up to date.
- You will use LawMitran in line with the Bar Council of India Rules, including the restrictions on advertising and solicitation. Your profile states factual professional information only: no claims of superiority, no guaranteed outcomes, no inducements.
- Leads are introductions, not guaranteed work. You contact a client only about the requirement they submitted and keep their details confidential.
- If you list a firm, you confirm you are authorised to share the firm’s details. Each advocate needs their own account.
- Verification can be refused or withdrawn, and paid plans are governed by our Refund Policy.
3. How the Platform works
Clients may submit a legal requirement, either to a specific advocate or to be assigned to an available advocate in or near their area. The advocate may then contact the client directly. LawMitran does not participate in, supervise, or guarantee any engagement between a client and an advocate, including fees, outcomes, or quality of service.
Advocate listings are based on information submitted by the advocate. Profiles are reviewed by LawMitran before publication, and advocates provide their Bar Council enrolment details and enrolment certificate as part of that review. Any rating a client gives reflects that client’s opinion, not LawMitran’s, and ratings are not displayed on advocate profiles. In line with Bar Council of India rules, the Platform does not promote or advertise individual advocates; listings and rankings are neutral and criteria-based.
Sharing a purchased document with an advocate. After you buy a document you may choose to share it, read-only, with an advocate who receives your requirement. You decide whether to share, with whom, and you can stop sharing at any time; the advocate can read it only while you share, and only after taking your requirement. Any fee for checking the document is agreed directly between you and the advocate. LawMitran does not charge for sharing, is not a party to that arrangement, does not review the document, and does not verify or endorse any advocate’s opinion on it. Lawyers shown to you for this purpose are listed neutrally by area, location and availability, not recommended.
4. Legal documents & guides
Document templates and legal guides are general-purpose informational material, not legal advice, and may not suit your specific facts. Laws, fees, and procedures change and vary by state. You are responsible for having documents reviewed by a qualified advocate before relying on them. Optional paid lawyer review, e-signature, and e-stamping services are facilitated through third parties and subject to their terms.
5. Your account & acceptable use
You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and be at least 18 years old. You agree not to misuse the Platform — including posting false requirements, scraping data, impersonating others, uploading unlawful content, or attempting to circumvent security or payment systems. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.
6. Payments & refunds
Lawyer subscription fees and document purchase charges are stated before payment and are processed by third-party payment gateways. Except where required by law or expressly stated at the point of purchase, payments are non-refundable once the service or document has been delivered. Stamp duty and registration charges are statutory amounts payable to the government; LawMitran neither retains nor refunds them. 7. Limitation of liability
The Platform is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, LawMitran is not liable for the acts or omissions of any advocate or user, for decisions taken in reliance on informational content, or for indirect or consequential loss. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid to LawMitran in the six months preceding the claim.
8. Grievances & governing law
Complaints can be raised through the grievance page. These terms are governed by the laws of India and subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Bengaluru, Karnataka.
9. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be notified on the Platform.
